Cookie Policy

This page explains which cookies Storyvote uses and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember something between pages or visits, for example who you are in a room.
The cookie we use
Storyvote currently sets one cookie:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Contents | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
storyvote.guest | First-party, strictly necessary | Keeps you the same participant across tabs and page reloads, so your votes stay yours and the host keeps control of their room | A random participant ID and your display name | When you close your browser |
The cookie is sent only to Storyvote, only over HTTPS, and is not readable by other websites. Storyvote stores nothing else in your browser: no local storage and no other cookies.
Why there's no cookie banner
Under EU and Polish law, cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you ask for don't require consent. Our only cookie is of that kind, so we don't show a consent banner. If we ever add cookies that do need consent, we'll ask for it before setting them and update this page.
Managing cookies
You can see and delete cookies in your browser's settings, and you can block them. If you block Storyvote's cookie, rooms won't work properly: you may appear as a new participant each time you reload, and a host will lose control of their room. Deleting the cookie has the same effect as closing your browser.
