The best free planning poker tools in 2026
Most planning poker tools say they're free. Look closer and many limit players, voting rounds or meetings until you upgrade. We compared six popular options on what you actually get without paying, so you can pick the right one for your team.
A note on bias. We make Storyvote, so it's first on this list. We've tried to be fair: every limit below comes from each tool's own website, and we point out where other tools do things Storyvote doesn't. Prices and limits were checked on 9 October 2026 and can change, so check before you decide.
What we looked for
- Free for a real team. A whole team can estimate a whole backlog without hitting a paywall.
- Quick to start. Share a link, and people join from the browser. The fewer sign-ups, the better.
- Hidden votes. Cards stay face down until everyone has voted, which is the whole point of planning poker.
- Common card decks. At least Fibonacci and T-shirt sizes, ideally custom cards too.
- Works on any device. Laptops in the office, phones on a video call.
- Where the estimates end up. Whether the tool sends estimates to your issue tracker, or you copy them over yourself.

1. Storyvote
Best for: teams that want everything free, with no sign-up and no limits.
Storyvote is planning poker and nothing else, and every feature is free. The host names the room, shares the link, and teammates join by typing their name. There are no accounts and no paid tier to upgrade to.
- Votes are kept on the server until a short reveal countdown ends, so nobody can peek or anchor the team. Fully anonymous voting is available too.
- Fibonacci, modified Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes and powers of 2, or your own custom cards.
- Per-discipline estimates: split a story into frontend, backend and QA, for example. Each gets its own vote, and the story shows the total.
- A stories panel with ticket keys and a running total of saved estimates.
- Facilitators who can run the game alongside the host, and password-protected rooms.
- No ads, no analytics, one cookie, and data deleted when the session ends.
Where others do more: Storyvote doesn't connect to Jira or other trackers, has no CSV import or async voting, and doesn't keep a history: rooms are deleted after 7 days, so copy your estimates into your tracker. Several of these are on our roadmap. Curious how it can be free? We explain why.
2. PlanITpoker
Best for: small teams that want to import stories from Jira.
PlanITpoker offers a quick-play mode without sign-up, and an optional free account to secure rooms. The free plan includes unlimited rooms and stories, several decks, and story import from CSV or Jira XML.
Trade-off: free rooms are limited to 7 participants. Larger teams need PlanIT Premium at $20 a month.
3. Kollabe
Best for: teams that want integrations and run a few sessions a month.
Kollabe is a polished collaboration tool with planning poker, retrospectives and more. Its free plan has unlimited voting rounds and no ads. Paid plans add custom decks, data export and integrations with Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps and Linear.
Trade-off: the free plan allows up to 10 participants and 4 meetings a month, with 7 days of history. The planning poker plan costs $12 a month.
4. Planning Poker Online
Best for: organisations that need certified security and async voting.
Planning Poker Online supports live and async voting, CSV import and permanent game links. It is ISO 27001 certified, which can matter for procurement in larger companies.
Trade-off: the free Basic plan allows 9 votings and 5 voted issues per game, with unlimited games for 6 weeks. Premium, which removes the limits and keeps your history, costs $30 a month.
5. Parabol
Best for: teams that want retrospectives and stand-ups in the same tool.
Parabol is an open-source meeting tool for agile teams. Sprint poker is one meeting type alongside retrospectives and check-ins, with integrations for trackers such as Jira and GitHub.
Trade-off: the free Starter plan is limited to 2 teams and 10 meetings a month, with 30 days of history. The Team plan is $8 per active user a month.
Which one should you choose?
- You want it completely free, with no limits and no ads: Storyvote.
- You need integrations and history, and have a budget: Kollabe or Planning Poker Online.
- You want one tool for all your agile meetings: Parabol.
Whichever you pick, the tool matters less than the habit: everyone votes in secret, the cards are revealed together, and the biggest differences start the conversation.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to use free planning poker?
Not always. Storyvote work without any account, PlanITpoker has a quick-play mode without sign-up, and Kollabe says its free rooms need no sign-up either. Parabol asks you to create an account.
Which free planning poker tool works with Jira?
PlanITpoker's free plan imports stories from Jira XML or CSV files, and Parabol's free Starter plan includes integrations. Kollabe's Jira integration is part of its paid plans. Storyvote doesn't connect to Jira: you add the ticket key next to each story and copy the final estimate back yourself, so it never needs access to your backlog.
Can a team in different time zones use planning poker?
Yes, with async voting, where everyone votes when it suits them. Planning Poker Online supports it. Storyvote is built for live sessions, where the whole team reveals together on a call.
Which voting scales do these tools support?
All of them support the common Fibonacci-style scale, and most offer T-shirt sizes. Storyvote has Fibonacci, modified Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes and powers of 2, plus custom cards you type in yourself, all on the free plan.
Is any planning poker tool free forever?
Storyvote is free with no ads, and its Terms of Service say it won't start charging. The others are free up to a limit and make money from their paid plans.
Try Storyvote in a minute. Create a free room, share the link, and start estimating. No sign-up, no limits.
