Scrum Poker in Slack

Storyvote is free scrum poker (planning poker) for Slack. Type /storyvote in a channel, and the room's card is posted there: one click takes everyone to the room, signed in as their Slack selves, with no account to create.

How it works

  1. Add Storyvote to Slack. Add the app to your workspace. You only do this once, and your workspace's admins may need to approve it first.
  2. Type /storyvote in a channel. Add the room's name after it, as in "/storyvote Sprint 42", or start with "async" for a room everyone votes in at their own pace. Storyvote posts the room's card in the channel straight away, and you are its host.
  3. Everyone clicks the card. Slack's side panel shows the room, and its "Open in browser" opens it with each person's Slack name already filled in: no name prompt, no sign-up. Whoever started the room is its host; everyone else joins as a voter. A room link pasted in Slack shows the same card.

What you get

  • The whole room, one click from the conversation. Hidden votes until the reveal, a discussion timer, custom decks, extra questions and stories split by discipline.
  • Async rooms for async teams. An async room stays open for everyone to vote in their own time, over a day or the whole sprint, so a team across time zones can estimate without a meeting.
  • Cards that keep up. The room's card in the channel shows how many stories it has and says when the room has ended, and the Invite button's link and QR code bring in anyone outside Slack.
  • Your seat follows you. A room opened from its card knows you by your Slack account, so you keep your seat wherever you open it. You can still change your name in Settings.
  • Free, with no limits. Unlimited players, rooms and stories. There is no paid plan and you are never asked for a credit card.

Privacy

When you add Storyvote, Slack asks you to allow it to add its command, post messages, preview Storyvote links and see people's names. Storyvote then keeps your workspace's access token, encrypted, until the app is removed. When you open a room, Storyvote reads your Slack user ID and display name, and nothing else: no email address and no messages. It only sees the Storyvote links Slack asks it to preview. Ending a session deletes the room at once. Read more in our privacy policy.

If a room's card does not show, the link in its message takes you to the same room. If something looks off, we'd like to hear about it.

Try it now. Add Storyvote to Slack, or create a room in your browser. Planning in Discord or Telegram instead? See scrum poker in Discord, in Telegram, or everything a room offers.
