How Storyvote Compares to Other Planning Poker Tools

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Six planning poker tools, eleven capabilities, one table. Storyvote is the only one here that asks extra questions next to the estimate, splits a story by discipline, opens inside Discord and Telegram and starts from Slack, all free. The established tools win on tracker sync, history and enterprise administration, and we say where.

A note on bias. We make Storyvote. Every cell for another tool comes from that tool's own website, checked on the date under the heading: "No" means we found nothing about it there. Tools change, so check before you decide.

The short answer

  • Everything free, no sign-up, no limits: Storyvote, or Pointing Poker for the plainest possible round.
  • Estimates synced back to GitHub or GitLab: Parabol, or Kollabe on a paid plan. For Jira and Linear, Storyvote does it free: it imports a sprint or a cycle and fills in each issue's story points or estimate.
  • Teams that build with AI: Storyvote, which votes AI tokens and Agent-ready next to the points. See AI estimation.
  • Procurement asks for ISO 27001: Planning Poker Online.

Tool by tool

Storyvote

Planning poker app

Planning poker and nothing else. Live or async rooms, extra questions next to the estimate (risk, clarity, Agent-ready, AI tokens), stories split by discipline, a discussion timer, CSV import and export, Jira, Linear and Trello connections, and rooms that open inside Slack, Discord, Telegram and Google Meet.

  • Best for: Teams that want every feature free, with no sign-up and no limits.
  • Price: No paid plan: everything is free, paid for by ads.

Kollabe

Agile meeting suite

Planning poker next to retrospectives and more. Guests join without an account, rounds can run async, and its paid plans add custom decks and Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps and Linear integrations that sync estimates back. No ads on any plan.

  • Best for: Teams with a budget that want tracker sync, and retrospectives in the same tool.
  • Price: From $12 a month per space; free up to 10 participants and 4 meetings a month.

Planning Poker Online

Planning poker app

Live and async voting, custom decks, permanent game links, CSV import, a native Linear integration and a Jira plugin on the Atlassian Marketplace. It lists ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance. Game history is a Premium feature.

  • Best for: Organisations whose procurement asks for ISO 27001.
  • Price: $30 per facilitator a month; free with 9 votings and 5 voted issues per game.

PlanITpoker

Planning poker app

A quick play mode with no sign-up, and a free account to secure rooms. The free plan has unlimited rooms and stories, several decks, voting statistics and story import from Jira XML or CSV.

  • Best for: Small teams that import stories from Jira files.
  • Price: $20 a month for unlimited participants; free up to 7 participants.

Parabol

Agile meeting suite

Sprint Poker is one meeting type next to retrospectives and check-ins. It pulls stories from Jira, GitHub and GitLab and syncs the estimates back, supports custom scales, and offers SAML single sign-on and SCIM on its Enterprise plan.

  • Best for: Teams on Jira, GitHub or GitLab that want estimates synced back, and stand-ups and retros too.
  • Price: $8 per active user a month; free for 2 teams and 10 meetings a month.

Pointing Poker

Planning poker app

A long-running free pointing tool: share a link, vote, reveal. No account and no paywall. Its site lists no tracker integrations; it is meant to sit beside your call.

  • Best for: A quick round with no setup at all.
  • Price: No paid plan: free, paid for by ads.

Where Storyvote is the weaker choice

  • Trackers. It connects to Jira Cloud, Linear, Asana and Trello, importing a sprint, a cycle, a project or a list and writing each final estimate back, but it doesn't connect to GitHub or Azure DevOps yet: those go in and out as CSV.
  • History. Nothing is kept between sessions. A room is deleted when it ends, or after a week unused (a month for an async room), so download the results as CSV.
  • Administration. There are no accounts at all: no single sign-on, no organisation, no seats to manage. That is the point for most teams, and a gap for some companies.
  • Ads. Ads pay for it, on the public pages; never inside a room. Why it's free.

More trackers are next on our roadmap.

How we compared

  • The same eleven questions for every tool, Storyvote included.
  • "Yes" only for what a tool's own website says it does on a normal plan; "Paid plans" when its pricing puts it behind one.
  • "No" when the site says nothing about it, and "Not stated" where it hints at something without saying it outright. We didn't count anything from reviews, forums or memory.
  • Prices are the ones on each pricing page, in US dollars, before tax and yearly discounts.

Questions

Which planning poker tool is best?

It depends on what your team needs most. For everything free with no sign-up and no limits, Storyvote. For estimates synced back to Jira, GitHub or GitLab, and a budget for it, Parabol or Kollabe. For procurement that asks for ISO 27001, Planning Poker Online. For a quick round with no setup, Pointing Poker works too.

What does Storyvote do that the others do not?

Three things we found on no other tool's site in this comparison: extra questions voted next to the estimate (risk, clarity, Agent-ready and AI tokens), a story split into disciplines that each get their own vote, and rooms that open inside Slack, Discord and Telegram. And all of it is free, with no player, meeting or round limits.

Where is Storyvote the weaker choice?

It connects to Jira Cloud, Linear, Asana and Trello, but not yet to GitHub or Azure DevOps (they import and export by CSV). It keeps no history: a room is deleted when it ends, or 7 days after it was last used (30 for an async room). It has no single sign-on or organisation accounts, and it shows ads.

Is Storyvote really free?

Yes. There is no paid plan to upgrade to: every feature is free for every team, with no sign-up and no credit card. Ads from Google pay for it, and they never run inside a room.

Can I move my backlog from another planning poker tool?

Yes. Export your stories as a CSV and import it into a Storyvote room: it needs a title column and takes an optional ticket column, with a preview before anything is added. A Jira sprint or backlog and a Trello list import directly.
